Overview

The desert safari is the one Dubai experience almost everyone loves, and it is the easiest to add to any trip. Whether you're on holiday, visiting family or working in the UAE, our Dubai desk can book you on an evening safari with hotel pick-up, usually at short notice.

The afternoon starts with a shared 4x4 collecting you from your hotel or residence in Dubai and driving out of the city to the dunes. After the tyres are let down, your driver takes you dune bashing, a roller-coaster ride up and over the red sand, before stopping on a ridge to watch the sun set over the desert.

At the desert camp, there's time to ride a camel, try sandboarding down a dune and have a henna design painted on your hands. As darkness falls, a barbecue dinner is served with soft drinks and water, followed by live entertainment including the spinning Tanoura dance. You're back at your hotel later that evening.

Booking from the UAE

Call or WhatsApp our Dubai desk on +971 56 631 2154 with your date, pick-up location and number of guests. If you're booking from Kenya as part of a holiday, the same safari can be added to any Dubai package.

  • During Ramadan, live shows and music at the camp may be paused or adjusted.

Questions about this trip

How do I book the desert safari if I'm already in the UAE?

Contact our Dubai desk by call or WhatsApp on +971 56 631 2154 with your preferred date, pick-up address and the number of adults and children. We'll confirm availability, the pick-up time and payment details. Booking a day or two ahead is wise in the busy winter season and on weekends.

Is the pick-up shared or private?

The standard safari uses a shared 4x4, so you may travel with other guests, usually up to six per vehicle. If you'd prefer a private vehicle for your family or group, ask when booking and we'll quote the private option, which also gives you more flexibility on pick-up time.

What is a Tanoura show?

Tanoura is a traditional dance in which a performer spins continuously for several minutes in a wide, colourful skirt that lifts and lights up as he turns. It has roots in Sufi whirling and is a highlight of evenings at Dubai's desert camps, usually performed after dinner alongside other live entertainment.

Is food suitable for vegetarians?

Yes. The barbecue dinner usually includes grilled meats along with salads, rice, bread, hummus and vegetable dishes, so vegetarians are well catered for. Let us know about vegan, allergy or other dietary needs when you book so we can pass them to the camp in advance.
