4-Day Maldives Overwater Escape
Three nights in an overwater villa in the Maldives with breakfast and dinner daily, resort transfers by speedboat or seaplane, and taxes included.

The Maldives is an Indian Ocean nation of coral atolls and one-island resorts, made for honeymoons and snorkelling. Every nationality gets a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival.
The Maldives is the honeymoon destination: coral atolls where each resort has its own island, overwater villas and reef you can snorkel straight from your deck. The country is a chain of roughly 1,200 low coral islands in 26 atolls, south-west of Sri Lanka. Entry is simple: every nationality, Kenyans included, gets a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival.
Few places do total rest so well. Most resorts take one island each, so it's quiet, and many come with a house reef full of fish, turtles and reef sharks a few steps from the sand. Divers and snorkellers come for manta rays and whale sharks, couples for sandbank dinners and sunset cruises.
Resort islands are the classic choice: private, all-inclusive or half-board, and pricier. Local islands, where Maldivians live, have guesthouses and small hotels at much lower rates, with trips out to sandbanks and reefs. The trade-off is that local islands are alcohol-free and expect modest dress outside the designated bikini beaches.
December to April is the dry north-east monsoon season, with calm seas, sunshine and the highest prices. May to November brings the south-west monsoon, with more rain and wind but lower rates and still plenty of sunny days. Manta ray and whale shark sightings depend on the atoll and the season, so tell us if they're the priority.
There are no non-stop flights from Kenya. You connect through Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi or Colombo to Velana International Airport in Malé; a Dubai stopover makes a popular two-centre trip.
From Malé, resorts transfer you by speedboat, seaplane or domestic flight plus boat. Seaplanes only fly in daylight, so an evening arrival can mean a night near Malé first.

No advance visa is needed. The Maldives gives every nationality, Kenyans included, a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival, provided you have a passport with enough validity, a confirmed resort or hotel booking (or proof of funds) and a return or onward ticket. You must also complete the free online IMUGA traveller declaration within 96 hours before arrival.
There are no non-stop flights from Kenya, so you connect through a hub such as Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi or Colombo to Velana International Airport in Malé. From there, resorts transfer you by speedboat, seaplane or domestic flight. Seaplanes only fly in daylight, so late arrivals may need a night near Malé before the transfer.

Manta ray and whale shark sightings depend on the atoll and the season, so choose your resort with that in mind.
No. Resort islands are the classic and pricier choice, but many inhabited local islands have guesthouses and small hotels at much lower rates, with excursions to sandbanks and reefs. The trade-off is that local islands are alcohol-free and expect modest dress outside designated bikini beaches. Some travellers split the stay between the two.
Five to seven nights is the sweet spot. Getting there from Kenya takes most of a day each way, so anything shorter feels rushed. Many couples split the stay between a beach villa and an overwater villa, or combine the Maldives with a few nights in Dubai on the way there or back.
Yes, at resort islands, licensed hotels and liveaboard boats. Alcohol isn't sold on inhabited local islands, and you can't bring it into the country: bottles from duty-free are held at Malé airport. Pork products and idols for worship are also restricted imports. On a resort island, check whether your meal plan includes drinks.
