Shoppers, families, first international trips, honeymooners and groups

Dubai is the most popular international holiday for Kenyans: about five hours' flight from Nairobi or Mombasa, with shopping, desert safaris, theme parks and beaches in one compact city. It's one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates. Most Kenyan passport holders need a UAE visa arranged before travel, and we handle that with your package. Our Dubai desk is on WhatsApp at +971 56 631 2154.

Why visit

Dubai is easy. Flights are short and frequent, the city is safe and well organised, and there's something for every age, from grandparents to teenagers. It works as a first trip abroad, a shopping run, a honeymoon or a stopover on the way to Asia or Europe.

What to see and do

  • Burj Khalifa, at 828 m the world's tallest building, and the Dubai Fountain at its feet
  • Desert safari: dune driving, sunset in the sand and dinner at a desert camp
  • Old Dubai: the Gold and Spice Souks in Deira, an abra ride across Dubai Creek and the Al Fahidi historic district
  • Museum of the Future and the Dubai Frame
  • A dhow dinner cruise on the Creek or in Dubai Marina
  • Theme parks, water parks and beaches in Jumeirah
  • A day trip to Abu Dhabi for the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Best time to visit

November to March is the most comfortable time, with warm days and cool evenings that suit the desert and outdoor attractions. It's also peak season, so book early for December. From June to September temperatures often pass 40°C, but hotel rates drop and malls, indoor attractions and water parks keep running. Seasonal favourites like Global Village open in the cooler months.

Getting there from Mombasa and Nairobi

From Nairobi: several airlines fly direct in about five hours.

From Mombasa: flydubai flies direct in about five hours, daily at last check.

Dubai is one hour ahead of Kenya.

Visas for Kenyans

Most Kenyan passport holders need a UAE visit visa issued before travel, usually through a travel agency, airline or UAE sponsor. Since 25 June 2026, Kenyans who hold a valid residence permit from the US, the UK, an EU country, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore or South Korea can get a visa on arrival instead. Rules change, so always check before you travel.

Good to know

  • Dress modestly in malls, souks and government buildings; swimwear is for beaches and pools.
  • Some prescription medicines need approval before you bring them into the UAE. Check if you take regular medication.
  • The UAE weekend is Saturday and Sunday.
  • During Ramadan, avoid eating or drinking in public during daylight hours.

Dubai: your questions

Do Kenyans need a visa for Dubai?

Yes. Most Kenyan passport holders need a UAE visit visa arranged before travel, usually through a travel agency, airline or UAE sponsor. Since 25 June 2026, Kenyans who hold a valid residence permit from the US, UK, an EU country, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore or South Korea can get a visa on arrival instead. Rules change, so check before you travel.

How long is the flight from Nairobi to Dubai?

Direct flights from Nairobi to Dubai take roughly five hours, with several daily departures from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. From Mombasa, flydubai operates a direct service of about five hours, which was daily at last check. Dubai is one hour ahead of Kenya, so jet lag isn't an issue.

When is the best time to visit Dubai?

November to March is the most comfortable time, with warm days and cooler evenings, ideal for desert safaris and outdoor attractions. It's also peak season, so book early for December. From June to September temperatures often pass 40°C, but hotel rates drop, and malls, indoor attractions and water parks stay busy.

How many days do you need in Dubai?

Four to five nights covers the highlights: Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, a desert safari, a dhow cruise, the souks and a theme park or beach day. Add a night or two for a day trip to Abu Dhabi or more time for shopping. Two or three nights work well as a stopover on the way to Asia or Europe.

What should I wear in Dubai?

Dubai is relaxed by regional standards, but dress modestly in malls, souks and government buildings, covering shoulders and knees. Swimwear is fine at beaches and pools. Visiting a mosque requires full cover, and women need a headscarf; major mosques usually provide suitable robes. Pack a light layer for heavily air-conditioned interiors.

Can I pay for a Dubai holiday in instalments?

Many Kenyan travellers spread the cost of a Dubai trip by paying a deposit and clearing the balance in instalments before departure. Ask us about Lipa Polepole, and we'll explain the current payment schedule for your package. Keep in mind that flights and visas are only secured once they're paid in full and issued, so they need settling first.
